Richard Turner's first profession
was music, having studied the clarinet at the Vienna Conservatoire and classical
guitar at the Royal Academy of Music (London). Throughout the thirty years or so
in which he pursued a career as a recitalist and teacher he also maintained a keen
interest and involvement in the visual arts. In 2000 he retired from the music profession
to concentrate on his painting.
He has successfully exhibited in numerous solo and group shows in Manchester, including
the Portico Gallery, the Blyth Gallery, Colin Jellicoe's, and the Manchester Art
Show; in Lancaster at the Sultan Gallery; in London at St Martin's-in-the-Fields,
Jersey Galleries, Bankside and Cotton's Atrium and has also exhibited at the Lyceum,
Crewe and in St. Ives, Cornwall. Richard has many works held in private collections
in the UK, Europe and Australia. |
